def leppard Def Leppard Finally Releases A Live Album, Celebrates With A Chat And Performance At Street Date

In 32-plus years of releasing music, you might think [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Def Leppard [/lastfm]has done it all. Well, think again. Outside of live tracks scattered on various releases over the years, the band has never released an ”official” live album. Until now.

Mirrorball: Live And More is something the guys have been wanting to do for over 20 years, but just haven’t had the time. Lead singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joe Elliott [/lastfm]and lead guitarist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Phil Collen [/lastfm]recently sat down with Street Date and filled us in on this explosive new release, which culls live songs taken from their Sparkle Lounge tour. The new double-disc release also features three brand new studio Leppard tracks.

And to top things off, our studio session features exclusive live acoustic versions of some of Def Leppard’s best-known songs!

“Pour Some Sugar On Me”

Without a doubt, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Def Leppard [/lastfm]is the most successful band to come from the “New Wave Of British Heavy Metal” movement of the early ’80s. Most of the songs that took them to that plateau show up on Mirrorball. Nineteen [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Def Leppard [/lastfm]tracks are joined by live versions of “Action” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Sweet[/lastfm] and “Rock On” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Essex[/lastfm], plus Joe, Phil, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rick Savage[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Vivian Campbell [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rick Allen [/lastfm]jumped into the studio to unleash three new songs, “Undefeated,” “Kings Of The World” and “It’s All About Believin’.”[pullquote quote=”This is the first year off we’ve had in 30 years. This is the first time we could actually look back at some of the recordings.” credit=”Phil Collen”]

In support of this release, this week Def Lep will play three shows in the U.K. and Ireland, including the Download Festival. Then they hit North America for three months of shows, with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Heart[/lastfm] opening the shows. This will mark the first time [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Def Leppard [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Heart[/lastfm] have been on the same bill or on tour together! The trek will start on June 15.
