Trends: Radiohead Makes Its Own News

The members of Radiohead haven’t yet gone home for the holidays: yesterday saw them put two new tracks available to buy online, “The Daily Mail” and “Staircase,” just in time for the year’s end. The King of Limbs caused a huge splash in February, but how are fans reacting to new material?

Today Trends looks at initial reaction, and how the rest of the band’s catalogue is scrobbling.

The graph above (click to enlarge) shows Radiohead’s entire year, with a 4,000,000 scrobble peak hit following TKOL‘s release. Still hovering just under a million scrobbles per week, their ‘average’ plays are still anything but.

As regards the new tracks, “The Daily Mail” has already been tagged with ‘if this song were a human i would marry it twice’ by eager listeners. With work on a new album already beginning next month, it seems the love-in is due to continue.
