Walk The Moon’s “Anna Sun” Remixed By The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr.

Most would agree that remixes rarely add or transform the original song into something better. All too often we hear “I like the original better.”

Rarely does a remix come along that evokes a positive emotion from the band’s most loyal fans. This may be one of those rare instances.

Known as Trouble Productions, the duo of The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. and producer Gus Oberg, give Walk The Moon’s “Anna Sun” a smooth, sultry yet bold electronic make-over. Hammond is a respected rock figure, but what about Oberg? Among the names Oberg has engineered sessions for are greats like Strokes, Neil Young, Postelles and Moby.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, lead singer and humble Ohioan, Nicholas Petricca couldn’t hold back his excitement, “We’re psyched about how quickly “Anna Sun is spreading and how positive the response has been! Also, our heads exploded a little when we think of Albert and Gus remixing the track. Huge honor!”

Speaking about the origins of the original track with KROQ’s Kevin & Bean, Petricca explained that “Anna Sun is a professor at Canyon College and her husband is a professor of philosophy and they liked the song a lot.” Bean wondered if the song was a tribute to which Petricca explained, “We never say the song is about her, it’s more inspired by her. They’ve given us their blessing, they’ve come to some shows. I’m just glad we have her blessing, she wasn’t trying to take it off the [air] waves or something.”

Walk The Moon have also released a wildly different style remix of “Anna Sun” titled the Fool’s Gold Remix.

Directed and produced by Patrick Meier, the music video for “Anna Sun” boasts a 2 1/2 minute continuous camera shot inside the historic Mockbee building in Cincinnati’s brewery district.

Walk the Moon will release their self-titled debut album on RCA Records June 19th.
