Reigning kings of the reggae-post-punk-stoner-rock scene, Slightly Stoopid are enjoying an inordinate amount of success with their new single, the title track from Top Of The World. The album, which marks their 10th full-length release, has shot like a rocket up the alt-rock charts.

Not only does the band call Southern California home but they were signed to none other than Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell’s Skunk Records while still in high school, bestowing them with instant credibility. Since signing with Skunk in 1995, the constantly touring band has built a cult-like following, flying just under the pop-culture radar.

Without the fans, we’d just be playing at the bar,” says singer/guitarist Kyle McDonald. “They make it worth our while. When we go out and people are having that good of a time, the energy goes back and forth. Just a good time – we rely on each other’s energy.

The six-man band has had the luxury of playing with Pennywise, the Dave Matthews Band, Damian Marley, Sublime, the Roots, The Expendables, Snoop Dogg, G. Love & Special Sauce, Ozomatli and many more.

Slightly Stoopid’s latest album, Top Of The World is scheduled for release on Tuesday, August 14th. To prepare fans for the album’s release, the band is allowing fans to download four song free via their website. Songs include “Top Of The World,” “Don’t Stop,” “Just “Thinking” and “Pon Da Horizon.”

Following the record’s release, the band will perform live at the Rd Bull Sound Space at KROQ on Thursday, August 23rd at 4:20PM PT. The performance and Q&A session will be webcast live here.
