For Jane’s Addiction fans don’t have to worry about possibly catching the group on a future tour if they can’t make it to the lush drama that is their Theatre of the Escapist tour.

The band has no plans of going on hiatus anytime soon. In fact, guitarist Dave Navarro said the group has “been together now almost as long” as they’ve ever been and they’re “closing in on just as long as the original run.” The group now feels comfortable together; their solo projects and independence have inspired them.

“We’re looking forward to just making another record and we’re kind of in this for the long haul,” confessed Navarro in an interview with KROQ’s Kevin & Bean in Los Angeles. “Back in the old days, we didn’t really have time to take on other projects. And now technology and the world is such that it allows us to basically do whatever we want. It’s kind of an amazing time.”

Navarro himself said that he’s working on some solo projects, including a possible “self-indulgent solo guitar player record.”

“I want to work on a couple of different records and my tastes vary so much I figured I could go with two very, complete different genres, so that’s something I’ve mapped out for sure,” said Navarro, laughing when Bean suggests he’s doing an “experimental jazz” record. He firmly denies it. “I still love songwriting and songs and storytelling. So, one’s going to be songs and the other’s going to be just guitar music.”

“Definitely should not be released,” said Navarro, agreeing when Bean jokes that the guitar music album shouldn’t be released. “But I’m going to make it available anyway.”
