Matt Bellamy Of Muse On 9/11 Conspiracy: “There Are Lots Of Questions To Be Answered”

Matt Bellamy of bombastic UK prog-rockers Muse has announced that he no longer thinks the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York City was an inside job, even though he still believes “there are lots of questions to be answered.”

The revelation was made during a recent interview during which the politically-minded Muse frontman discussed a conversation with former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner he attended with actress girlfriend Kate Hudson.

“Kate and I asked him lots of questions. I can’t repeat the answers because someone would have to kill me,” Bellamy joked to Metro. “He was a lovely man and it was a very pleasant conversation but these guys are hardcore. You ask them questions about the military-industrial complex and they don’t fanny about.”

Bellamy gained the reputation as a “truther” based on this notorious 2006 quote in CMU:

“September 11 is clearly an inside job, there’s massive evidence that suggests that it was either allowed to happen or even worse, deliberately made to happen. There was a document called ‘Project For The New America Century’ which was made by neo-Con writers in the ’90s who supplied most of the agenda that Bush is putting into place now, which clearly says, ‘We need a Pearl Harbor-level of event so we can have an excuse to invade the Middle East.'”

“I don’t believe that anymore,” Bellamy said this week, “although there are lots of questions to be answered. I still read a lot about political history, the influence of corporations and the military but I make sure I’m reading from credible sources. I think my political views are bit more nuanced now.”

Bellamy’s more nuanced political views can be heard on Muse’s highly anticipated new album, 2nd Law, which is scheduled for release on October 2. The album is currently being streamed on iTunes.
