Snoop Dogg (or should I say Snoop Lion, reggae enthusiasts?) is one of hip-hop’s most dichotomous characters. With a dubious past as an actual pimp and his enduring status as the premier celebrity stoner, he’s also accessible enough to kick it with Martha Stewart and land corporate endorsements from the likes of Pepsi and 7 Eleven.

Still, his recent admission that he smokes marijuana with his 18-year-old son Corde Broadus was sure to raise eyebrows, not to mention questions regarding Snoop’s progressive parenting skills.

“What better way to [learn] than from the master? My kids can do whatever the hell they want,” Snoop said to the Hollywood Reporter. “For me to say otherwise would be hypocritical. A lot of motherf—ers don’t have a relationship with their kids, and that’s when they get on drugs and have suicidal thoughts and drive drunk. Me and my son is mellow. I’m his father, so I wanna show him the proper way because he looks up to me.”

Snoop’s son Corde is currently launching his own rap career under the moniker Spanky Danky, setting off the controversy by tweeting pictures of him smoking out of a large glass bong with his famous father.

Snoop, who recently introduced his Snoop Lion persona to the world with the Major Lazer-produced song “La La La,” is taking on other famous folks like Edward Norton, Kristen Bell and John Legend in a “Words With Friends” celebrity challenge for charity. Snoop is playing for his Snoop Youth Football League. Winners will be announced this Thursday, October 4.
