Of the two days remaining on Morrissey's calendar, Staples Center will please him by going vegetarian.

Morrissey fans are a glutton for abuse. The singer’s tours have been famously plagued with cancellations. His latest string of canceled concerts began with Morrissey’s desire to be by his ailing mother’s side. The next set of shows went up in smoke due to a bleeding ulcer, not surprising for a man that caries the weight of the world on his shoulders.

On Saturday, Morrissey posted a detailed apology to fan site True To You explaining his thoughts behind the latest string of canceled shows saying “the patient must be patient.”

Morrissey continued, “I apologize to an almost annoying degree for any trouble I’ve caused to anyone by way of travel plans and dog-sitters and ticket-outlay and re-molded hairstyles. I should be as fit as a ferret for San Diego.”

As for the remaining shows in San Diego and Los Angeles, L.A’s 20,000 seat Staples Center will go meatless on March 1. For the first time ever the venue will offer vegetarian fare only. McDonalds and other vendors offering “flesh as food” will be closed day of show. Morrissey commented, “I don’t look upon it as a victory for me but a victory for the animals.” To hit home the message, a portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit PETA.

Lee Zeidman, Sr. Vice President and General Manager of STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE. commented that the organization respects Morrissey’s lifestyle and “his concern for the wishes of so many of his fans”  and they’re happy to honor his request.

Available foods for the March 1 concert include Vegan Sloppy Joes, Grilled Veggie Sandwich, Cheese Pizza, Vegan Sushi, Cheese Nachos, Veggie Burgers, Veggie Wraps, Pasta, salads and more. Arena staff will also reach out to nearby L.A. Live restaurants for suggestions on additional vegetarian menu options.

Staples Center was recently name the most vegetarian–friendly NBA venue in the U.S. by PETA.

Morrissey surprised fans by walking off the stage during his 2009 Coachella set, siting that he could “smell burning flesh.” Goldenvoice, the festival’s organizer offered to go 100% vegetarian the following year if Morrissey would unite with The Smiths. He said no.
