Over the years we’ve seen many bands covering classic songs like Nirvana‘s cover of Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World” or Alien Ant Farm‘s “Smooth Criminal” cover.

Last year, there was a time when you couldn’t go a day without seeing a cover version of Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” – ranging from an HP Ink Jet and GLEE to fun. with Haley William on the BBC.

As part of a “Unexpected Covers” series on Vevo, Passion Pit have jumped into the fray with a cover of “Carry On” from fun. The re-imagining of the hit single off of Some Nights features Passion Pit front-man Michael Angelakos on piano with the addition of all female background singers. “I think pared down like this you can actually hear it for the brilliant song that it is.” Commented Angelakos, “That’s why I chose it.”

Passion Pit’s latest album Gossamer is out now and you can catch them at various festivals in North America this August through October.
