Listen to Pennywise’s New Song ‘Violence Never Ending’

by Jay Tilles

Pennywise debuted a new track in this morning (June 2) titled “Violence Never Ending,” off their forthcoming album Yesterdays.

It’s right in line band’s patented cynical yet pro-American mantra, with lyrics like “Raise up the flagpole till ya shoot it down/ Salute that flag now better safe than sound.”

“Yesterdays is a collection of old songs from our early years and also a few outtakes we dusted off just for the occasion,” said the band. “We first started playing music together in 1988 in an old wooden one car garage covered in graffiti on Irena Street in Redondo Beach with no other motive other than to have fun and make a lot of noise”

“A lot of these songs were written by Jason,” they continued, “our original bass player and main song writer. He was all about PMA [positive mental attitude] and you can hear the influence of Dag Nasty and 7 Seconds in his lyrics in songs like “Thanks-giving” and “Slow Down.” It was all about having fun and being thankful for what you had, no matter how messed up it was.

“This album represents who we were before the outside world came along and changed everything. The good old days…. The Yesterdays”

Their 15th full-length album, Yesterdays, will feature a mix of unreleased tracks as well as fan favorites. Yesterdays will hit stores July 15.

Pennywise, Bad Religion and the Offspring and will unite for the Epitaph Records-sponsored summer tour, Summer Nationals, also featuring Stiff Little Fingers and the Vandals on select dates. The 24-date U.S. tour kicks off July 29 in Pittsburgh, PA, and wraps up September 11 in Council Bluffs, IA. Coincidentally, the 1994 Summer Nationals tour was Brett Gurewitz‘s last show with Bad Religion before reuniting with the band in 2001.
