SANTA MONICA, Calif. (CBS Radio) – The co-founder of ’80s band Devo got married on Friday. Gerald Casale must have thought combining his nuptials and the 9/11 anniversary was about Freedom of Choice, but instead people have been telling him to Whip It.

The bride, Krista Napp, and groom had a his and hers cake made to look like the twin towers of the World Trade Center, with a picture of their face on top of each tower.

The table settings showed an image of a box cutter with the words “Gerald and Krista” engraved on them and guests received box cutters as party favors.

Box cutters were used as weapons by the 9/11 hijackers because at the time you could take them on airplanes.

Their friends didn’t seem fazed by the questionable theme, reports TMZ, which also published photos from the party.

One guest said the couple has a dark and strange sense of humor, saying Casale “real heart as an artist, and is a super sweet guy.”
