Almost 25 years after Nirvana released their breakthrough hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” some fans are claiming Kurt Cobain is still alive. The rumors have elicited a sarcastic response from Nirvana’s Facebook page.

“It is true, Kurt is alive,” read a message from the page’s administrator. “He needed time to learn to play the guitar with his right hand. Finding left-handed guitars is not easy. We are so happy to have him back and forgive him for all of the sadness that we have held so deeply in our hearts.”

The site also posted a second message: “I thought people like conspiracy theories. I can’t do anything right!”

Along with the note, the page included an article from The Daily Mail about fans who recently saw a video of Peruvian Singer Ramiro Saavedra covering Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” on the nation’s talent show Yo Soy, and mistakenly assumed it was Nirvana’s late frontman. Strangely, the footage actually dates back to 2012.

Police reported that Cobain killed himself in April 1994, but that hasn’t stopped the conspiracy theorists from letting their imaginations run wild. There have been at least two films, including Nick Broomfield’s 1998 documentary Kurt & Courtney that suggest Cobain’s death was no accident.
